Now first, I need to clarify that I'm not being stalked by a person who scares me. I'm merely being stalked by a person who is obsessed with when I get to work, what I'm doing, and when I leave. No, he's not my boss. Just a co-worker. No, what I do has no bearing on him whatsoever. So why is he so obsessed? Good question.
For the past couple of years this person has ranted on and on to other co-workers about my tardiness or if I leave early. No, he's never said anything to me, but why should he? He's not my boss. My boss knows when I'm going to be late and why. My boss knows if I have to leave early. My boss is the only person that needs to know.
The great thing about the guys I work with, though, is that they all know how absurd this man's obsessions are. He isn't doing or saying anything that hurts me, but rather it just makes him look like a fool to everyone else.

That sounds VERY annoying!
You are fortunate that it all just makes him look foolish; if not, he could cause some trouble for you. . . (yeah; been there, done that. . .)
It is *very* annoying. But I don't think he can cause me any trouble. I've already talked to my boss, told him the situation, and made sure he was aware of why I've been late, etc. He's just as annoyed with the guy as I am.
Is he trying to get you fired?
In order for me to get fired from where I work, I'd have to be doing something a lot worse . . . like something illegal.
Sounds like you have a coworker with not enough of his own actual work to do. Are you the only person in his perfection sights or does he do this kind of annoying thing to others? Is your boss his boss? If so, he really needs to be pulled in and talked to, and documented, especially if he makes it worse for you after a talking to.
This is an ongoing thing and I'm not the only one he complains about. I'm just the main focus. Our boss takes him in and talks to him occasionally, but it doesn't make a difference.
Poke him in the eye. That would make him look the other way.
I worked with a woman like that once -- she'd note what time I came in to work in the morning (we had flex time and she came in an hour earlier than I did), when I left for lunch and when I'd get back. The only thing she didn't note was what time I left the office each evening because of her earlier shift.
She loved to report to my boss when I'd been at lunch 10 minutes longer than was "standard" or some such thing. My boss would reply "mm-hmm" and ignore her. Because of the hours he worked he knew I rarely left work on time and often took work home with me. He and I just let her have her little rants and ignored her.
Eventually (as in a few years later) she finally gave up and let me be. So, ya' know, there's always hope. . .
You aren't aware that I also read your blog and know where you live? And that "RL" is out of town? (As though "RL" actually exists...)
