Way back when I was in college, my professors gave us 3-4-5 triangles up, down, and sideways, since it meant that the calculations would be relatively simple, and they could check our knowledge of the concepts. . .
I'm teary eyed because this involved math. I would never have known. Ever. I'd ask for a quarter of those 500 Amazing Blogger points just out of sympathy, but I'm not sure what a quarter of 500 is.

Where you are superior to all of us is that you actually know how to use this theorem and apply it to the work you do. Whereas, I have only needed to know this maybe twice in my whole life. And I still couldn't make it square...

It's the Pythagorean Theorem. The square of the hypotenuse of a right triangle is equal to the sum of the squares of the other two sides.
a2 + b2 = c2 (where c is the hypotenuse and a and b form the right angle.)
Do I get any points for that?

5 cm. I know others already said, but I did calculate it on my own. One of the few things I remember from geometry.
