Ok, I added the Reader Poll over there in the sidebar and usually don't change the question until Sunday. But since I just really don't have anything else to write about and because I want to make sure no one misses it, I'm going to change the question today. I just want to make sure that everyone gets a chance to vote, because I think it would be very interesting. And those of you who are lurking out there, who never leave a comment, please go ahead and vote in the Reader Poll. I mean, really, who's going to know . . . .
Now brace yourself, because I don't know if you realize this or not, but Valentine's Day is Thursday. That's right, this coming Thursday. I only mentions this, because I'm sure there are some out there that don't realize it is here already (This year is flying by!) and I don't want you to feel like a complete shmuck when your lover says, "Happy Valentine's Day!" And you're standing there with "OH $#!+" written all over your face.
And that brings us back to the Reader Poll: How do you really feel about Valentine's Day?

Hate it with a passion.... contrived garbage if you ask me and it comes (for us) at the worst time of year: after Holidays and a half dozen birthdays which means we are BROKE. Every year. And yet, somehow I gotta come up with something 'cause Queenie thinks it's the bomb. Anyone wanna contribute and bail me out??
XI - I am working on a post just for the occasion, it'll back you up, but you'll have to drop by to read it this week.
My husband has a gleam in his eye already because Thursday is Valentine's Day; however, I think, if he were being honest, the gleam is because he's going to be out of town that day!
hehe, your reader poll did not have MY fave answer, which is, I expect something sparkly in a small box, while my gift to YOU will be a handmade card from me & the kids! HEE! And a steak dinner if you're lucky.
I don't mind it. It is just an excuse to have more naked time...which I am a fan of so I go along with it.
Oh, I'm sure it's just a big ol' scam designed to make boatloads of cash for Hallmark and the candy companies. But that doesn't mean I can't have just a bit of fun wit' it. . .
One time, Molly showed up at my place of work on VDay with a long-stem rose box. She left the box with the receptionist and left. When I came out to retrieve the package, I found it was WAY too heavy to be roses, and when I opened it, I found six cans of beer, laid end-to-end. Who knew that a long-stem rose box was just the exact perfect size for a linear six-pack?
I married a great, great woman. . .
And, somewhere in my files is a card I bought, but never sent to my birth-mother, who LURVES VDay w/ a passion, and got her nose just the slightest bit out-of-joint when our first VDay after reunion came and went w/o proper acknowledgement from me. On the front, is a photo of a gnarly old guy, scowling at the camera as he stands behind a chair. The caption reads, "Here's your damn Valentine" And inside, it says, "Now sit down and shut up."
See, I'm guessing she might not quite get the humor of that, but I promise you, I was rolling on the floor. . .
My birthday is right next to Valentine's Day, so there's always that. Sort of means I get shafted on one of those holidays.
We always have to go out a different night than Valentine's Day just because I refuse to wait for two hours to eat dinner. Everyone in the world goes out on Valentine's Day, which makes dates on that night a little more annoying.
I love any excuse to get dressed up and spend the evening alone with my husband. As far as the chocolates and roses, etc. go, its not a big deal to me. But I do love any opportunity to have a date night with RS.
no big deal to me.
i dont have a sig other - just my son....we made valentine cards last night for his v-day party today (don't know why the v-day party is on the 13th vs the 14th)
maybe if i ever have a decent sig other - it will mean more...
i think love should be shown all the time not just ONE ceratin day more than others...lol
