work: a day in pictures

The other day it was kind of rainy, so at work we got out the GPS equipment. On days like this I spend most of my time in the middle of the street. But there are opportunities to enjoy some of the surrounding landscape.

Aside from the obvious hazards on the job, there are the occasional dangers of . . . African bees? Actually, I've never known this to be a problem in this area, but apparently it is.

That sign is just plain silly. The last line should say.
"If Bees are encountered. RUN AWAY FROM THEM!
After you come to a complete stop - notify dispatcher"

Have the bees actually been "Africanized"? Were they specially trained in the culture? Were there tests involved? I mean, killer bees are just that. Killer bees. Not killerized bees.

If they sting you, are you then known as a "stingerized person"?

It sounds like a bit of a procedure to be a bee that has been '-ized' anything.

SM -- Yeah, I thought it was kind of silly myself. I mean, if I saw any bees what could the dispatcher do?

FADKOG -- And how long have they been in the states? After a time, wouldn't ya think they'd be Amercanized?

I sometimes wish I had an outdoor job .... except it rains a lot here, and gets extremely cold, and gets hazy hot and humid lots.

How's Oklahoma rate for good days vs. bad outside? Excepting the killer bees, that is.

I'm sure the dispatcher would be sympathetic to your plight. Sympathy's good, right?

XI -- In OK when it's nice weather, it's really nice weather. But when it's bad . . . whew, it's really bad. Hot, humid summers and freezing winters. I mean, most winters anymore we just get ice storms. Fall and Spring are the best, but I really like working outside no matter what the weather is like.
